5 Days – Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

On a safe journey through Mpumalanga, known as paradise country, with its extraordinary beauty of lowveld and escarpment, home of the world’s most famous game reserves, its third - deepest canyon, ancient caves, and a fascinating gold - rush history. Our destination will be to the largest game reserve in Africa, the Kruger national park, with a unique combination of wilderness areas, and a wide variety of big game animals, which is also a living memorial to President Paul Kruger who had a vision to protect this wilderness.

Day 1
Pick you up from OR Tambo International Airport or your nearby lodge/ hotel at 05h00. We travel through Mpumalanga, “the place where the sun rises” – a beautiful province with spectacular scenic and abundance of wildlife. We will stop en-route for breakfast (own expense) on our way through Orichstad and Lydenburg to Three Rondawels. We will quickly book into our lodge in the Blyde River Canyon, the only green and the third largest canyon in the world, and have lunch. (Own expense). After lunch we visit Bourke’s Luck Potholes, a series of natural geological formations that seem nearer to art than nature. At our return from the potholes, we will have dinner together. (Dinner)

Day 2
An early rise as we have breakfast at 07h00 before leaving our lodge at 08h00. We travel via Strydom tunnel to Phalaborwa, which is home to the largest open cast mine in the world. We enter Kruger National Park and travel to Shingwedzi, which is situated in prime elephant country where large herds can be found. We will stop en-route for lunch at Mopani.(Own expense) After lunch we will travel north, while still game viewing till we reach our camp, book in and enjoy dinner, before we go on an open vehicle night game drive with rangers from the Park. (Breakfast ,Dinner)

Day 3
Depart as soon as the gates open and head straight into prime game viewing areas where we hope to catch a glimpse of some amazing animals found here. We will stop again for breakfast at Mopani camp. After breakfast we make our way south to Letaba camp, where we will visit the elephant museum and have lunch. After lunch we travel to Satara, often referred to as the “cat camp”. Large cats are frequently spotted in the Muzadzeni area where a large and successful lion pride operates. Here we will overnight and go on an open vehicle sunset game drive with Park rangers. On our return we will enjoy dinner. (Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner)

Day 4
Wake up at 05h00, we will spend the day game viewing on some of Kruger’s best roads to see if we can spot the big five, or some early active predators. We work our way to Tshokwane picnic spot where we will enjoy breakfast, before leaving straight for Lower Sabie, which attracts large numbers of game and is abundant in cheetah, lion, elephant, hippopotamus and large herds of buffalo. Here we will enjoy lunch, before making our way to Skukuza which is the capital of Kruger National Park, and situated in the heart of the big five territory. We will enjoy a hearty dinner, after booking in for the night (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5
Up at 05h00 and leaving as soon as the gates open to make our way to Malelane gate, where we will exit the Kruger National Park. We will work our way to Schoemanskloof where we will have brunch. From here we go on to the urban wilds of Johannesburg where we will say our goodbyes at about 18h00 at OR Tambo International Airport or your lodge/ hotel nearby. (Brunch)
